Alberta Agriculture and Forestry commissioned an independent review of its Wildfire Management Branch and the extraordinary wildfire activity the organization faced in 2019. The final report included a number of recommendations and opportunities for improvement. This update provides information on the actions take and progress made by the wildfire management program in response to the recommendations made in the review's final report.

Alberta Agriculture and Forestry commissioned an independent review of its Wildfire Management Branch and the extraordinary wildfire activity the organization faced in 2019. The review focused on the operational aspects of the 2019 response to the spring wildfires, the impact on and perspectives of residents, partners and stakeholders; and an evaluation of the Wildfire Management program in its entirety including the connection of the 2019 experience to past fire seasons and reviews. The final report includes a number of recommendations and opportunities for improvement. Also included in this record is a four-page document outlining next steps to be taken by Agriculture and Forestry in response to the recommendations in the report.
