Government departments began collaborating last year to tackle these challenges, helped by a larger budget. An expansion of the `Report a Poacher’ hotline to include public land abuses and changes to allow on-the-spot ticketing underlined the commitment to greater enforcement and resulted in more ticketing of offenses. Much of the work between Environment and Parks and Justice and Solicitor General’s Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Branch includes education and prevention as responsibility for stewardship is shared by both government and the public.

The study collects information regarding the quality and quantity of additions and deletions to the agricultural land base. The current study monitors changes from 1991-10995. This is the fifth in a series of studies which have monitored land use changes since 1976.
