The annual report of the ministry of Energy contains financial information of the ministry and a comparison of actual performance results to desired results set out in the ministry business plan, which was published as part of the previous year's budget. The report also includes financial statements for the entities making up the ministry and for which the minister is responsible.

Environmental Impact Assessment and associated applications pertaining to the proposed Canadian Natural Resources Limited Kirby In-Situ Oil Sands Project. The proposal is for steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) technology for the recovery of bitumen, a bitumen processing facility with a capacity of 45,000 barrels per day (bbl/d), a centralized steam generation plant, as well as associated infrastructure. The proposal is for bitumen production capacity of approximately 140,000 barrels per day using steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) technology. The location of the project is approximately 11 km south of the existing Long Lake project and approximately 16 km south of Anzac within the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. The proposal involves the expansion of the existing commercial project and is based on steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) thermal technology to increase by 40,000 barrels per day to a total of 73,000 barrels per day. The approximate location is 50 km northwest of Fort McMurray in the Municipality of Wood Buffalo. This EIA was deemed complete in 2007. Description

In 1987 a detailed inventory of NOx sources was completed for the province, as part of the Acid Deposition Research Project (ADRP). This project included identification of the source and technology, location, and estimation of emissions. In 1988, Informational Letter 88-5 (IL 88-5) was jointly issued by the Energy Resources Conservation Board (now the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board) and Alberta Environment. For the first time in Alberta, this document required the use of low NOx technology for reciprocating engines. In December 1992 the CCME issued the National Emission Guidelines for Stationary Combustion Turbines, which applied to new turbine engines. It is desired that the penetration of the technologies prescribed in these Guidelines and other low NOx technologies be determined for Alberta.

In 1994, the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board recommended that a study be done on the quality of the air in the community of Fort McMurray, and its potential impact on human health. Scientists worked with 300 volunteer participants to test their health, measure the quality of the air they breathed and test the air in Fort McMurray. This resource presents an overview of the findings of the study, which concluded that Fort McMurray residents are breathing good quality air and that ambient levels of airborne contaminants are low compared to provincial, national and international guidelines.
