Results for the aerial ungulate survey for moose conducted in December 2018 in Wildlife Management Unit 332. The primary objectives of this survey were to assess the status of moose populations by determining a population estimate based on density estimates, and a population demographic split for sex and age classes. The secondary objectives of this survey were to assess the status of white-tailed deer, mule deer and elk populations in WMU 332.

In February 2013, Alberta Fish and Wildlife surveyed the moose population in Wildlife Management Unit 354 using distance sampling methods to estimate population density. This study was designed to estimate the population size and density of moose, the adult sex ratio, and calf ratio within WMU 354. Aerial surveys are the primary method used to assess the population size, distribution, population trends and herd composition of ungulates in Alberta. This information supports the effective management and conservation of ungulates, and is used to set hunting licence allocations, identify areas with agricultural depredation problems, and determine priority areas for recovery actions.
