Describes progress made towards achieving the commitments made by Alberta-Pacific Forest Industries Inc. (Al-Pac) in the 2015 Forest Management Plan (FMP), which was approved by the Alberta government on May 17, 2018. The stewardship report explains each of the 36 targets that Al-Pac has committed to in the FMP. It summarizes Al-Pac’s success at meeting its commitments on a target-by-target basis, and provides rationale for not meeting a specific target.

The purpose of the Alberta Scaling Permitting Program is primarily to provide the ground rules under which the training and permitting of timber scalers shall occur in Alberta. Timber scaling is conducted for the purpose of providing harvest information to the department of Agriculture and Forestry, and must be done by a person holding a valid scaler's permit. In addition, a valid scaler's permit is also required for any person conducting check scaling on behalf of Agriculture and Forestry. This document defines the requirements for course instructors, course content and duration, obtaining and retaining a scalers permit, and examination procedures.

Reports the findings of an opportunity analysis of Alberta's co-packing sector. The analysis was conducted to determine the viability of co-packing and to identify considerations and examples for successful co-packing businesses and recommendations on effective business models to foster growth in the food, natural health and personal care sectors in Alberta. This analysis includes a literature review of the impact co-packing services have on small to medium-sized businesses and fourteen interviews with co-packers and stakeholders conducted from January to March 2020. The opportunity analysis has been sorted into three sections: an overview of the North American and Alberta co-packing industry, the considerations for viable business models and best practices, and resources and supports.
