Information includes the type of incident, source of the incident, type of injuries and occupations of injured workers. The Public Health Appeal Board is a quasi-judicial board established to hear appeals from decisions made under the Public Health Act. The Board functions independent of government departments to ensure fairness and impartiality. (Most appeals submitted to the Board relate to an order issued under section 62 of the Public Health Act. The order is issued after an Executive Officer has inspected a private or public place and has probable grounds to believe that a nuisance exists or that there has been a contravention of the Act or its regulations.) The Board is required to make a report each year to the Minister summarizing generally its activities and affairs in the preceding year.

This document summarizes what was heard from participants and presenters during the Indigenous Primary Health Care Innovation Forum, held in Edmonton on January 10 and 11, 2023. The purpose of the forum was to discuss current challenges in Alberta's primary health care system for First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples, and to identify innovative solutions from other jurisdictions to address these challenges. Results of the forum will also inform inform the Indigenous Primary Health Care Advisory Panel's final report to the Minister of Health.

Contains the responses of the Ministry of Seniors, Community and Social Services to recommendations from the Office of the Child and Youth Advocate for mandatory reviews into child deaths. The Child and Youth Advocate Act provides the Advocate with the authority to conduct investigative reviews. The Advocate may investigate systemic issues arising from the death of a child who was receiving child intervention services within two years of their death. The Act requires each ministry to respond publicly within 75 days of the release of a report.

A review of Alberta’s emergency medical services dispatch system was conducted to identify opportunities to improve the system and provide recommendations on strategies to implement changes with the goal of improving patient outcomes. The review included a comparison of the Alberta Health Services dispatch model with nine comparable systems from other provinces and other countries, as well as internal and external stakeholder engagement. Alberta’s government will be accepting all recommendations and is working on a plan of action to carry them out.
