Description

Serves as a user-friendly document that presents the authoritative suite of acceptable soil series names in Alberta with some of their defining attributes. The handbook summarizes information in the Alberta Soil Names File (Generation 4) included in the Agricultural Region of Alberta Soil Information Database (AGRASID) 4.0 using the geographic framework of the 2016 version of the Soil Correlation Area (SCA) Map of Alberta. Forty-nine new soil series names have been added to the Generation 4 Names File and a number of boundary modifications have been included in the 2016 SCA Map.

This technical bulletin presents quantitative morphological descriptions and landform classifications for typical glaciated landforms in western Canada and documents the methods used to produce the descriptions. This quantitative data provides necessary input for deterministic landscape related models and thus extend the utility of the soil survey databases in Alberta.
