The purpose of the Winefred Lake and Grist Lake RID is to: Address and resolve whether the Winefred and Grist lake planning area should be maintained as a wilderness lake or developed into a general recreation lake; Address and resolve what level of future access and development is appropriate for the planning area; and Provide future direction to the land manager on the use of allocation of public lands and natural resources within the planning area.

Description

The Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act lays out the powers, roles and responsibilities of Albertans and their government in the assessment and management of environmental contamination. Part 4, Division 2 of the Act provides for the designation of contaminated sites and for the subsequent remediation of those sites by responsible persons. This guideline is intended to aid in implementing the contaminated sites provisions and to assist parties involved with contaminated sites in becoming aware of the designation process.
