As outlined in the transition period directive for professional responsibilities in completion and assurance of wetland science, design and engineering work in Alberta, professional experience gained prior to registration with a Professional Regulatory Organization will be accepted as contributing toward the five year experience requirements, provided that the conditions listed in Table 1 are met.

The Qualified Wetland Science Practitioner (QWSP) program and standards will help ensure that professionals are appropriately trained and equipped to assist applicants in progressing through all stages of the wetland application process under the Alberta Wetland Policy. Requirements and practice standards for the QWSP designation are currently under development. In the meantime, an interim program has been established.
