It contains a complete listing of vaccines and biologicals that are publicly-funded and indications for their use. PLEASE NOTE: These policies and documents are revised as new research and national recommendations become available. Please ensure you are always referencing the current version of the document. Check this page regularly for updates. The Canadian Immunization Guide recommendations should be consulted when further information about immunization is required.

Influenza is a contagious and easily-transmitted respiratory disease caused by a virus that affects the nose, throat and lungs. The Alberta Influenza Immunization Policy (IIP) sets out the requirements for the provincially-funded Influenza Immunization Program. The objectives of the policy are: to reduce the incidence and impact of influenza disease in Alberta; to have effective and safe influenza vaccines available for administration; to increase the coverage rates of targeted populations; and for all people in Alberta to have access to provincially-funded influenza vaccine.

This resource provides updated provincial guidelines for post-exposure management and prophylaxis for Human Immunodeficiency Virus, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and sexually transmitted infections. This guidance is for public health, workplace health and safety and other health professionals involved in the management of post-exposure prophylaxis for blood and bodily fluid exposures. The guidelines standardize blood and bodily fluid assessment of the transmission risk in exposures occurring in the non-occupational (community) and occupational settings.
