The Enhancement Policy Manual contains policies and procedures that direct casework staff when delivering services under the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act. The Manual is provincial policy and procedural requirements that all casework staff in Child and Family Services Authorities and Delegated First Nation Agencies are expected to comply with. The policies provide direction and procedures for most common situations.

Description

The Youth Plan has been developed to address the unique needs of youth and places a particular emphasis on strengthening families first and ensuring youth experience healthy transitions across the system of care. The prevention of youth homelessness and reunifying families when possible is a top priority. The Youth Plan, guided by the principles of Alberta’s Social Policy Framework, emphasizes alignment across government programs and systems. The Youth Plan engages government, communities, parents and youth in building solutions.

Description

The Child Intervention Services (CIS) program is delivered by the Child and Family Services Authorities (CFSAs) as well as by the Delegated First Nations Agencies (DFNAs) for children and families living on reserve. (For the purposes of this document, the term 'CIS caseworkers' refers to program staff delivering the CIS program in both the CFSA and DFNA). The Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) program is voluntary and available to children in Alberta who have a disability including Aboriginal children who live on reserve. Whether on or off reserve, the program is delivered by the CFSAs. For children and families living on reserve, the FSCD program works in collaboration with the Band as well as coordinates services with available federal government programs and services. This protocol outlines how the CIS (as delivered by the CFSAs and DFNAs) and the FCSD programs will work together to best support children and families.
