The health research and innovation strategy maps out an integrated, results-oriented approach to health research and innovation with the goals of improving health outcomes for Albertans, increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the health system and creating economic benefits for the province. The 10-year strategy will influence the government's funding allocations and inform decisions made by agencies and private sector organizations engaged in health research in Alberta.

Each business plan includes a description of the ministry, desired outcomes, priority initiatives, and performance measures and indicators. Current and forecast budgeting information for the planning period is also included.

The Framework is the result of research and consultation with adult literacy learners, parents, and representatives from early learning, Kindergarten to Grade 12 learning system, public post-secondary institutions, community organizations, libraries, employers and industry associations and Alberta government ministries.
