The Government of Alberta, seeking ways to ensure the province’s rural economy continues to flourish, created a Rural Economic Development Task Force in early 2014. This action plan, a result of the task force’s work, outlines the steps that governments, industries, businesses and communities can take to increase economic development capacity, improve on the current suite of initiatives and orchestrate new opportunities to enable rural Alberta’s continued success.were asked for their input on rural economic development strategies, conditions for success and their ideas for innovation.

The Comprehensive Regional Infrastructure Sustainability Plan (CRISP) is a guideline for long-term infrastructure development in the Athabasca Oil Sands Area (AOSA) and supports Responsible Actions, the Alberta government's strategic plan for development of its oil sands resource. The CRISP focuses on community development and identifies infrastructure needs related to transportation, water and wastewater servicing, education and health care.

Description

The objective of the Slave Lake Regional Recovery Plan is to return the region to its pre-disaster state while ensuring that the communities are not socially, environmentally or economically disadvantaged by the wildfire event and are well positioned for future growth. This should not be viewed simply in terms of rebuilding to the previous status quo as this may no longer be sustainable, competitive, or functional in the community. The plan was developed to provide the region with support as it rebuilds the capacity and recovers infrastructure to support its own recovery. This plan was created through collaboration with the Municipal District of Lesser Slave River No. 124, the Town of Slave Lake, Sawridge First Nation and the Government of Alberta. The plan is built upon the objectives, goals and vision for their communities.
