The Athabasca rainbow trout, a small salmonid native to small streams and rivers of the upper Athabasca watershed, is listed as Threatened in Alberta. The goal of this recovery plan is to increase the number of Athabasca rainbow trout populations in low risk categories by a minimum of 10 per cent and to reverse the trend of an increasing number of populations in high risk categories. In Alberta, the black-throated green warbler has been designated a Species of Special Concern, and the bay-breasted warbler and Cape May warbler have been recommended for Species of Special Concern status due to perceived population declines and projected future habitat loss. All three species are neotropical migrants that breed in the Canadian boreal forest.
