Western spiderwort, an herbaceous perennial flowering plant native to sand dune habitats and found in Alberta at only one location in the extreme southeast corner of the province, is listed as Threatened in Alberta. The goal of this recovery plan is to maintain the existing habitat and distribution of western spiderwort, and to maintain a naturally, self-sustaining population of western spiderwort in Alberta.
