Informs forest tenure holders of a two-step process to permanently remove the requirement to list harvest areas requiring a regeneration survey from the Reforestation Program. As Step 1, this letter removes the requirement to submit for approval a listing of harvest areas that will be surveyed.

Ground rules are the practices used in planning and conducting timber harvesting operations. They constitute the methods used to implement decisions made in forest management plans and other higher-level plans such as integrated resource plans. Ground rules establish practices that minimize the chance of negative effects from timber harvesting and forest management operations and activities.

Crown forest management plans (FMPs) detail when, where and how timber on Alberta Crown land will be managed in order to balance social, economic and environmental needs based on input from the public, Indigenous peoples and interest groups. A component of a FMP called a timber supply analysis (TSA) was prepared by the Government of Alberta. The TSA covers Forest Management Unit (FMU) S10, a Crown managed unit located in northern Alberta within the Central Mixedwood and Lower Boreal Highlands Natural Subregions.
