Description

The Regulation includes a number of provisions respecting matters that fall under Part 1 of the Skilled Trades and Apprenticeship Education Act, including the administration of apprenticeship education programs and industry training programs by the Registrar; program requirements, including apprenticeship education agreements, obligations of apprentices, trainees and sponsors, apprentice wages and apprentice-to-mentor ratios; and processes for reconsideration and review of decisions. The Regulation includes two schedules: Schedule 1 sets out wage rates for each apprenticeship education program to be paid by employers to apprentices when employed during the on-the-job instruction component of the program; and Schedule 2 sets out apprentice-to-mentor ratios that must be adhered to by sponsors when employing apprentices for the on-the-job instruction component of the program.

Description

The Regulation includes a number of provisions respecting matters that fall under Part 2 of the Skilled Trades and Apprenticeship Education Act, including the administration of certification standards and requirements and the issuance of trade certificates and endorsements by the Administrator for Designated Trades. The Regulation also provides further details about the functions of the Alberta Board of Skilled Trades and its Board Committees which include the establishment of the undertakings and activities and the certification standards and requirements for each designated trade and branch of a designated trade. The Regulation includes two schedules: Schedule 1 lists each designated trade and branch of designated trade; and Schedule 2 sets out the restricted activities and classes of individuals to perform the restricted activities in each designated trade and branch of designated trade.
