Periodically, Forestry and Parks will initiate a tender process to bid on specific Crown lands in the province. This provides a fair and impartial way for everyone who is interested to submit a bid to acquire a disposition on Crown land. This guide sets out what is required for a tender and how to submit a tender bid package.

This booklet contains an annotated example of the Public Land Standing Report, which can be run from the Geographic Land Information Management and Planning System (GLIMPS) and which contains information specific to any Crown interest and/or activity on a given quarter section of land. GLIMPS is a computerized database system which forms the official departmental record for all surface interests (activities) on crown land in the Province of Alberta.

Administration of public lands includes controlling rights of access, surface rights and subsurface rights, or mineral rights. Public lands are administered for all Albertans through the issuance of dispositions. A disposition must be obtained for any access to or activity on public lands. Applicants for a disposition must submit the appropriate plan type that meets the requirements for the activity and purpose of the disposition being applied for. Disposition plans submitted digitally, and digital plan submissions are to be appropriately geo-referenced.
