Description

This fact sheet looks at understanding the costs of producing oil from the oil sands. It looks at the two main ways of recovering oil from the oil sands: mineable oil sands projects and in-situ projects where the bitumen is separated from the oil sands using a process underground, or "in place." One in a series of fact sheets produced to give Albertans a basic knowledge of the royalty system and assist them in effectively participating in royalty review discussions.
