Through this bilateral funding agreement, the federal government is investing $627 million over five years, from 2023-24 to 2027-28, as part of a 10-year plan for funding and collaboration. This funding will help accelerate efforts already underway to transform continuing care in Alberta, as described in Alberta's five-year action plan.

On November 8th, 2022 at the 40th Annual Meeting of Federal-Provincial-Territorial Ministers responsible for the Status of Women, Ministers endorsed the National Action Plan to End Gender-Based Violence; a ten-year, collaborative approach to ending gender-based violence. The Department for Women and Gender Equality Canada is funding provinces and territories to supplement and enhance services and supports within their jurisdictions to prevent gender-based violence and support survivors. The purpose of the agreement is to support Alberta's implementation of the National Action Plan based on our specific context and priorities.
