The proposal is to expand the existing reservoir by 780 hectares to a total area of 1,100 ha and water capacity would increase by 68 million m3 to 86 million m3. Description

In October 2020, Alberta and Canada signed the Agreement for the Conservation and Recovery of the Woodland Caribou in Alberta to facilitate woodland caribou recovery in Alberta. Alberta is committed to the implementation of this Agreement which supports provincial caribou recovery efforts including landscape-level planning, habitat conservation, management and recovery planning, caribou mortality and population management and caribou population and habitat monitoring. Alberta and Canada agreed to regularly report on the progress towards the commitments in this Agreement. This first report provides a summary of progress made and actions undertaken from January 1 to December 31, 2021.

Environmental assessment registry documents pertaining to the proposed St. Mary River Irrigation District Chin Reservoir Expansion project. Chin Reservoir is an off-stream storage reservoir that is located roughly in the middle of St. Mary River Irrigation District (SMRID) irrigation network, approximately 30 kilometers (km) east of Lethbridge and 15 km south of Taber. The Chin Reservoir Expansion Project (the Project) involves the construction of a new dam which would result in a larger reservoir. The new dam would be approximately 40 meters (m) in height and is expected to inundate (flood) approximately 650 hectares (ha) of privately held land within Chin Coulee. Represents the agreement between the Minister of Environment and Protected Areas and the Alberta Recycling Management Authority (ARMA), clarifying the roles and responsibilities of each in respect to ARMA's administration and oversight of the matters described in the Extended Producer Responsibility Regulation. The agreement also: sets out matters that the Minister considers advisable in the public interest relating to ARMA's activities under the regulation; provides for an accountability framework between parties; clarifies the administrative, financial, working and reporting relationships between the parties; and promotes openness and transparency to serve the public interest.
