The management goal for most Alberta fish populations and fisheries is sustainability. Achieving this goal uses Fall Index Netting data and the Fish Sustainability Index to determine the most appropriate sport fishing regulations for a lake. This landscape-level assessment allows for consistent, broad temporal comparisons of fish population sustainability and status. This report presents the results of netting conducted in 2020 on Bourque Lake.

This report provides a spatially explicit density and abundance estimate for the northern and southern portions of Bear Management Area 5 using data collected in 2014 and 2016. It also includes a reanalysis of 2006 data using the same spatial boundaries present in the 2014 and 2016 inventories to allow for a better comparison between the two estimates.

A May 2017 report by the Bow River Working Group provided advice on new reservoir storage on the Bow River upstream of Calgary to reduce flood and drought risk, and identified three reservoir options that warranted further study. From November 2018 to spring 2020, the Alberta government completed a conceptual assessment of the 3 water storage options. This package contains the conceptual assessment’s final report and its appendices.

Description

Environmental Impact Assessment and associated applications pertaining to the proposed Canadian Natural Resources Limited Pike 2 project (formerly Devon Canada Corporation). Canadian Natural is proposing a new in situ oil sands project in the Southern Athabasca Oil Sands region. To recover bitumen resources from the McMurray formation, steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) technology and diluent co-injection and cogeneration would be employed. The Project would include a central processing facility (CPF), well pads, source water and disposal well sites, pipelines, roads and power lines. The Project is expected to produce up to 70,000 barrels per day (bpd) of bitumen. For more information on the environmental assessment process visit ea.alberta.ca.

Environmental Impact Assessment and associated applications pertaining to the proposed Canadian Natural Resources Limited Horizon North Pit Extension. The proposal is to develop a northeast mine pit extension (NPE Project) to sustain production rates of the approved North Mine Pit at the Horizon Oil Sands Processing Plant and Mine. The project is expected to include the following changes to the Horizon Mine: extension of the approved north mine pit to include the NPE Project area (1,015 ha); additional overburden storage areas (2,396 ha); and updated closure and reclamation plans.
