Environmental assessment registry documents pertaining to the proposed Stone Creek Resorts Inc. Gondola project. The proposal is to construct and operate an aerial passenger ropeway system along with a day lodge, trail networks, viewing platforms, suspension bridge and associated utility services infrastructure as part of the Silvertip Integrated Village Resort. The proposed passenger aerial gondola would connect the base area of the Silvertip Resort to an upper terminal on the summit ridge of Mount Lady MacDonald, via a mid-station integrated with the Silvertip Resort Village. The June 2013 flooding in southern Alberta caused significant damage to the region, including the Kananaskis Country Golf Course, which is owned by the Government of Alberta. Deloitte LLP was contracted by Alberta Treasury Board and Finance in April 2015 to review the existing golf course contracts and advise government on alternative business models.

The North Saskatchewan Regional Advisory Council was appointed by Cabinet to provide strategic advice in the development of the North Saskatchewan Regional Plan. In its advice submitted to the government in December 2014, the council provided 69 recommendations in six topic areas: managing wetlands and lakes as part of watershed management; supporting biodiversity in the region; inclusion of Indigenous Peoples in land-use planning; community growth and community land-use planning; management of outdoor recreation; and economic development.

Recreation corridors are an important component of an overall strategy to increase physical activity and improve the health and wellness of Albertans. Recreation corridors also provide opportunities for economic development, rural diversification, tourism promotion, and economic retention. The Alberta Recreation Corridors Legislative Review Committee was established to provide advice regarding the review of existing legislation related to recreation corridors in Alberta, to address the needs, issues and concerns related to existing trails and future recreation corridors, and to consider, if appropriate, what new legislation would be necessary to support planning, design, construction and operation of recreation corridors in the province. This report provides the Committee's recommendations to the Minister of Community Development.
