To better understand the volume and characteristics of visitors to the Edmonton and area tourism region, a special analysis of the Travel Survey of Residents of Canada and the International Travel Survey was conducted. These consumer surveys provide tourism information for travel in Alberta by Canadians and trips to the province made by U.S. and overseas visitors. Data in this publication includes same-day and overnight trips for Albertans and residents from other parts of Canada, and overnight trips only for U.S. and overseas visitors.

Whether to see their friends and relatives, for business, or for pleasure, 19.6 million person-visits were made in 2006 to destinations in Alberta by residents of Alberta, other Canadians, visitors from the United States, and overseas visitors (same day and overnight trips for Alberta and other Canada, and overnight trips for the U.S. and overseas). To better understand the size and characteristics of these visitors, Alberta Tourism, Parks and Recreation commissioned Research Resolutions & Consulting to prepare a special analyses of the 2006 Travel Survey of Residents of Canada (TSRC) and the International Travel Survey (ITS) that are both conducted by Statistics Canada. These consumer surveys provide tourism information for travel in Alberta by Canadians and trips to the province made by U.S. and overseas visitors. This summary highlights key findings only. This park straddles the Central Mixedwood and Athabasca Plain Natural Subregions transitional area. The terrain in the park is defined by the crag and tail topography created through the actions of glacial ice and meltwater. Crags refer to the knobs or areas of exposed bedrock located on the up-ice side of the landform, while the tails are the trailing elongate bodies on the lee side of the landform and generally consist of erodible bedrock (American Geological Institute 1984 in Alberta Natural Heritage Information Centre 1998). The bedrock patches in this area are generally quite small; however they are very distinct, and do provide defining character for the park landscape This park is located in a relatively remote region of the province and little documented information is currently available for this area.
