This health evidence review updates a 2021 review of approaches to addressing racist behaviours toward Indigenous Peoples in the healthcare system. It examines the effectiveness, implementation and evaluation of anti-racism and First Nations, Métis and Inuit cultural safety training, including an online cultural safety learning tool. The review finds that cultural safety training can improve healthcare provider knowledge and awareness, but evidence of improved patient outcomes is limited. It highlights the importance of training that is co-designed with Indigenous communities, addresses systemic inequities, and provides ongoing, supported learning.

In November 2023, the Government of Alberta announced plans to refocus the health care system to address current challenges to the system. Engaging with Albertans is a vital part of the government's effort. This publication shares the feedback received during the second round of engagement, Lead the Way, which took place from January to May 2025. It builds on the insights captured during the first round of engagement from January to June 2024, which are outlined in the Shape the Way report. The input, experiences and feedback gathered are considered essential to continuing to lead the way Alberta develops a more sustainable, effective and efficient health care system.
