All banks, credit unions, trust companies and insurance companies offering LIRAs, LIFs and LRIFs to customers must be on the Superintendent’s List of Financial Institutions offering locked-in pension products, in order to accept transfers of locked-in funds. NOTE: This list is updated regularly. Please ensure you are using the CURRENT list for up-to-date information. Past issues of the list are kept for informational and comparison purposes only. There may be institutions that have applied to appear on this list but whose application was still being processed at the time this list was updated. Please contact the office of the Superintendent of Pensions to verify the status of any financial institution with respect to this list.

As of October 1, 2024, all online brokers that facilitate short-term accommodation transactions in Alberta – either between operators or accommodation hosts and purchasers – are required to register with TRA. Online brokers are only required to collect and remit the tourism levy for purchases of accommodation for which the online broker collects payment.

In Canada, English and French are the two official languages. The latest release from the 2021 Census of Canada shows that Alberta is home to 64,440 people with French as their first official language. As part of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedom, French-speaking minorities have the right to receive schooling in French for their primary and secondary education. Seven per cent of school-aged children in Alberta are eligible for instruction in the minority official language.
