The Government of Alberta released Responsible Actions: A Plan for Alberta's Oil Sands in February 2009 as a comprehensive 20-year strategic plan for the oil sands. The annual progress reports highlight key activities from over 50 projects and initiatives that work towards the development of Alberta's oil sands in a responsible and sustainable way, while supporting research and innovation, and clean, healthy and vibrant communities in the oil sands regions.

Responsible Actions: A Plan for Alberta’s Oil Sands is the Government of Alberta's 20-year strategic plan to balance development with environmental protection, social responsibility, and economic success. The plan establishes six concrete strategies to support responsible oil sands development. Over 50 projects and initiatives are reflected in the strategic plan. Many have already made significant progress. The strategic plan is closely linked with Alberta’s energy strategy and the land-use framework.

The Government of Alberta released Responsible Actions: A Plan for Alberta's Oil Sands in February 2009 as a comprehensive 20-year strategic plan for the oil sands. This implementation plan sets out to ensure that priority items in the plan are acted upon and that effective planning is undertaken for longer-term actions. It provides guidance to the government's Land-use Framework's regional plans with respect to responsible and sustainable development in the oil sands areas.
