Description
This report analyzes the significant economic contribution of the Northern Alberta Development Council region to Alberta and Canada, highlighting the outsized role a relatively small population plays in supporting provincial and national prosperity. Covering approximately 60% of Alberta’s land area and home to about 9% of its population, the region is a major centre for energy production, forestry, agriculture, and related resource-based industries. It demonstrates that northern Alberta's resource development drives investment and supply-chain activity across the province, and generates substantial revenues for both the Government of Alberta and the Government of Canada
