This document provides a high-level summary of the stakeholder engagement process that occurred as part of the Municipal Government Act review, including the timing, stakeholders included, and number of participants. A review of the Municipal Government Act was begun by the Government of Alberta in 2012, to ensure the Act continued to meet evolving needs. As part of the public consultation process, regional engagement sessions were held in eleven locations around the province during the period February to April 2014, to give Albertans an opportunity to provide input in person. This record contains summaries of inputs received during each session held in these 11 locations.

A review of the Municipal Government Act was begun by the Government of Alberta in 2012, to ensure the Act continued to meet evolving needs. In preparation for public consultations on the review, a series of draft discussion papers were created by Municipal Affairs staff and stakeholders. The discussion papers were the result of a review of the current Act and regulations, definitions of terms and processes, changes requested by stakeholders over the preceding 18 years, and highlights from other jurisdictions.
