Regulations under the Safety Codes Act require that all electrical accidents and power line contacts be reported. This annual report by Municipal Affairs compiles a summary of incidents reported during the calendar year. Organizations in the electrical industry may wish to use this information for promoting public awareness of electrical safety risks.

All municipalities and Metis Settlements are eligible for Canada Community-Building Fund (formerly Gas Tax Fund) funding. The program provides conditional grants for capital-related projects which meet program eligibility criteria. CCBF funding is allocated to municipalities on a per capita basis. The annual program budget is subject to Canada advising Alberta of the yearly provincial funding. Municipalities are advised of their annual CCBF funding allocations after Alberta's funding has been confirmed by Canada and specific funding allocations have been authorized by the Minister of Alberta Municipal Affairs.

From 1913 to 2019, Municipal Affairs produced the Municipal Affairs Population List that contained population counts for Alberta municipalities, Metis Settlements, and First Nations communities based on the most recent municipal or latest federal census. In 2020, The Municipal Affairs Population List has been discontinued and will be replaced by population estimates from Treasury Board and Finance. (See the “related” tab for a link to the spreadsheet versions of the municipal affairs population lists).

Alberta Municipal Affairs has produced this manual as a service to municipalities and other property assessment stakeholders. The manual establishes typical replacement costs for metal buildings and properties based on 2001 replacement costs. These buildings are primarily used in the oil and gas industry. The benchmark to establish costs for the Alberta 2001 Metal Buildings Cost Manual are typical 2001 replacement costs in the Edmonton area. The manual uses the full cost pricing of all typical building components including conventional mark-up. If supply and demand for buildings are relatively equal, the cost approach should establish a cost base given short-run fluctuations in supply and demand.
