All municipalities, at some point, will have to hire a new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). Hiring a CAO will be a result of a vacancy that may be caused by a retirement, resignation, death, relocation or termination. Under the MGA a municipality must appoint one or more persons to the position of chief administrative officer to head the municipal administration.
