The Government of Alberta has been working to clarify the roles and responsibilities of the various players in Alberta's health system and outlining who is accountable to whom and for what. This work has involved extensive discussions with health authorities, physicians, nurses and other health providers. The result is a new report called Achieving Accountability. The report describes the roles, responsibilities and accountability of different individuals, groups and organizations in the health system. This booklet provides highlights of the Achieving Accountability report. And it helps answer Albertans’ questions about who is responsible for what in today’s health system.
