Description

The primary objective of this health evidence review was to conduct a clinical review and economic analysis of currently existing vascular risk reduction initiatives, contextualized to the Alberta setting and considering patient views regarding vascular disease prevention. At the time of this study, vascular diseases (which include cardiovascular disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes mellitus, chronic kidney disease, and peripheral vascular disease) affected the lives of more than 300,000 people in Alberta.

In general, urgent care is defined as unscheduled health care offered, as part of emergency department care or in ambulatory settings, for acute lower-acuity conditions.
