Description

As part of the Government of Alberta’s commitment to be open and accountable to the public, all ministries are required to prepare and make public three-year ministry business plans. The ministry business plan encompasses the department and all consolidated entities, and aligns with the strategic direction of the Government of Alberta. Each business plan includes a description of the ministry, desired outcomes, priority initiatives, and performance measures and indicators. Current and forecast budgeting information for the planning period is also included.

This strategy highlights the key strengths of the sector, and provides the vision and goals that will guide the policies and priorities of stakeholders, thereby ensuring that the sector is globally competitive, more robust, profitable, and innovative. Identifying the short and long-term economic, social, political, and technological trends facing the industry allows stakeholders to establish initiatives that will bring Alberta’s aerospace and defence industry to the forefront of a strong and diversified provincial economy.

The Government of Alberta uses an integrated approach to development of natural resources so environmental, social and economic issues are considered. Policies and strategies developed in consultation with Albertans guide public and private actions that contribute to sustainable resource and environmental management. This document presents for public discussion a draft strategy for oil sands mine development and environmental management. The draft strategy was produced by a steering group that included representatives from environmental organizations, First Nations, industry and government.

Description

The objective of the Slave Lake Regional Recovery Plan is to return the region to its pre-disaster state while ensuring that the communities are not socially, environmentally or economically disadvantaged by the wildfire event and are well positioned for future growth. This should not be viewed simply in terms of rebuilding to the previous status quo as this may no longer be sustainable, competitive, or functional in the community. The plan was developed to provide the region with support as it rebuilds the capacity and recovers infrastructure to support its own recovery. This plan was created through collaboration with the Municipal District of Lesser Slave River No. 124, the Town of Slave Lake, Sawridge First Nation and the Government of Alberta. The plan is built upon the objectives, goals and vision for their communities.
