The Alberta Competitiveness Council was established in 2010 to look at ways to improve Alberta's ability to compete in a global economy. This report from the Council highlights initial findings on Alberta's competitive position on 70 benchmarked indicators relative to 14 other jurisdictions in Canada, the United States, Europe, and Australia.

Description

The Alberta Competitiveness Council was established in 2010 to look at ways to improve Alberta's ability to compete in a global economy. In 2011 the Council was mandated to examine factors impacting the province's overall competitiveness as well as its competitiveness in four specific sectors of Alberta's economy: agriculture, financial services, manufacturing, and petrochemicals/chemicals. A task team was established for each of these sectors, as well as a task team dedicated to examining the overall factors of competitiveness. This report summarizes the findings of the Council's task teams.
