This technical handbook outlines a methodology for conducting regional/project-based acid deposition assessments using the revised acid deposition management framework [2022], which includes a new critical loads function and a steady-state mass balance approach to determine critical loads of acidity for sulphur and nitrogen deposition. The handbook should be utilized to determine suitable acid deposition assessments when required. It has a companion tool and GIS package that can be used to calculate exceedances as per Section 3 of the handbook.
