This document presents guidance for selecting acceptable risk-based toxicological reference values (TRVs) for managing contaminated sites in Alberta. It has been developed through general agreement through the Scientific Working Group on Contaminated Sites in Alberta, whose membership includes Alberta Environment and Parks, the Alberta Energy Regulator, Alberta Health and Alberta Health Services.

Boron is relatively unique among the metals and metalloids in terms of being highly soluble in water and thus generally more mobile in soil and groundwater.
