Description

Public lands are managed for all Albertans through the issuance of dispositions. A disposition must be obtained for any access to or activity on public lands. This document outlines the process to renew a disposition if the disposition holder wants to continue it beyond its expiration date. Dispositions must be renewed before they expire, and renewal applications must be received no later than one year prior to expiry.

Government requires grazing disposition holders to employ appropriate range management principles and practices to ensure a healthy, functional rangeland ecosystem is maintained on public lands for present and future generations. To this end, a stewardship assessment is required for each grazing disposition, with stewardship defined as the degree to which the grazing disposition holder is aware of and understands the four principles of range management and applies them to the stewardship of their grazing disposition.

This booklet contains an annotated example of the Public Land Standing Report, which can be run from the Geographic Land Information Management and Planning System (GLIMPS) and which contains information specific to any Crown interest and/or activity on a given quarter section of land. GLIMPS is a computerized database system which forms the official departmental record for all surface interests (activities) on crown land in the Province of Alberta.
