Designated Industrial Zones in Alberta are areas targeted for strategic investment and development of clustered industrial development and economic diversification. Management goals for Designated Industrial Zones include regulatory streamlining, cluster infrastructure development, and the minimization of cumulative effects on the environment. Alberta’s Land-use Framework (LUF), released in December 2008, sets out a new approach to managing the province’s land and natural resources to achieve Alberta’s long-term economic, environmental and social goals. The LUF establishes seven new land-use regions and calls for the development of a regional plan for each. The South Saskatchewan Regional Plan sets the stage for robust growth, vibrant communities and a healthy environment within the region over the next 50 years. This resource presents an amendment of the original plan published in 2014.
