Environmental assessment registry documents pertaining to the proposed Stone Creek Resorts Inc. Gondola project. The proposal is to construct and operate an aerial passenger ropeway system along with a day lodge, trail networks, viewing platforms, suspension bridge and associated utility services infrastructure as part of the Silvertip Integrated Village Resort. The proposed passenger aerial gondola would connect the base area of the Silvertip Resort to an upper terminal on the summit ridge of Mount Lady MacDonald, via a mid-station integrated with the Silvertip Resort Village. Under the Alberta Tier 1 Soil and Groundwater Remediation Guidelines, the protection of the Domestic Use Aquifer Pathway must be included for all assessments. Under the Alberta Tier 2 Soil and Groundwater Remediation Guidelines, the applicant is able to reassess the Domestic Use Aquifer Pathway and remove this pathway if there is not a risk to human health or the environment at the location in question. One option to remove this pathway from the assessment of risk is based on the lack of access to the groundwater resource within the municipal boundaries provided the applicant can demonstrate that there is a municipal bylaw in place that prevents access to groundwater to install drinking water wells. This bylaw is deemed an administrative control that protects human health. This Guide outlines the conditions that need to be met for exclusion based on municipal bylaw. Albertans shared their feedback on the draft Mooring Disturbance Standard in May 2020 and from November 2 to December 14, 2020 through two online surveys. The purpose of the disturbance standard is to set the maximum acceptable footprint for temporary seasonal docks, temporary seasonal boat lifts and associated mooring structures for personal recreational purposes on the beds and shores of Alberta’s recreational lakes and rivers that are public land owned by the Crown. The disturbance standard creates a general permission for most waterfront, semi-waterfront and municipal dock owners and eliminates the need for them to apply for an authorization if they abide by the standards.
