World of Wolves is a teacher’s activity guide for the Wolf Edukit, developed to assist educators in introducing students from grades seven through ten to wolves and wolf ecology. Although the program has been developed for these grades, it can be modified for use in other grades. A separate program called Wolves and Me has been developed for students in grades three to six. This student-directed program provides the opportunity for students to: • examine their own attitudes and opinions about wolves • identify the issues involving wolves • study wolf biology, behaviour, and ecology • investigate at least one of these issues • present their research findings in one of four formats • complete an action plan and act upon it.

Composting projects at home or at school provide excellent opportunities for exploration and investigation. Many science inquiry skills can be learned and practised while students focus their attentions on the variables and problem solving skills necessary to maintain a working compost bin. Students can determine the effectiveness of various composting variables, problem solve, and apply their newly acquired knowledge towards more effective and efficient composting techniques. These skills can then be shared with others. This guide contains a series of activities that will promote a positive attitude towards composting, an awareness of why composting is important, an understanding of how to resolve problems associated with composting and the recognition that composting is an important waste minimization process that has far reaching economic and environmental benefits.
