The intent of this indicator is to measure and track connectivity of three broad habitat types (Upland Forest, Lowland Forest and Grass-Shrub) compared to the state of the landscape in the absence of human footprint (reference condition).

Historical data collected through the Alberta Atmospheric Deposition Monitoring Program were evaluated to understand the current state, long-term trends, annual and seasonal variability at select atmospheric deposition stations. Concentrations of ions in precipitation from seven stations distributed throughout the province were evaluated over 2011 to 2020. Concentrations measured were also compared to those measured in other jurisdictions.

This document describes Alberta's apportionment agreement with the other prairie provinces. The Rocky Mountains in Alberta are the headwaters of many rivers that flow east into the other prairie provinces. To help ensure that downstream provinces can meet their water needs, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba have agreed to share water resources between the three provinces. The process of determining each province’s portion of water is referred to as apportionment.

Provides documentation on the development of the Native Cover indicator to be applied across the province of Alberta. The intent of the Native Cover indicator is to measure and track the amount of habitat that is free of visible human footprint. There are two types of native cover: aquatic and wetland native cover (AWNC), representing the amount of aquatic habitat free of visible human footprint, including bogs, fens, swamps, marshes, open water, and riparian areas; and terrestrial native cover (TNC), representing the amount of upland (non-aquatic) habitat free of visible human footprint.

This information sheet contains information about the Alberta's Extended Producer Responsibility Regulation, which came into force on November 30, 2022, and how communities can make informed decisions regarding EPR as the province transitions to province-wide, producer-operated EPR systems.
