Description

On November 8th, 2022 at the 40th Annual Meeting of Federal-Provincial-Territorial Ministers responsible for the Status of Women, ministers endorsed the National Action Plan to End Gender-Based Violence; a ten-year, collaborative approach to ending gender-based violence. The Department for Women and Gender Equality Canada is funding provinces and territories to supplement and enhance services and supports within their jurisdictions to prevent gender-based violence and support survivors. The purpose of the agreement is to support Alberta's implementation of the National Action Plan based on our specific context and priorities.

Description

The department of Women and Gender Equality, Canada is working with provinces and territories to fund existing gender-based violence crisis hotlines. The purpose of the contribution agreement is to provide funding over four years, starting in 2022-23, to existing gender-based violence hotlines experiencing a rise in call volumes as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
