This manual reflects the standards and conventions used in the digital mapping plans produced by the Rural Utilities Division of Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development. The manual is intended to provide standards for the 1:20000 digital mapping plans, which are graphic digital files drawn to show surveyed gas line and customer locations for rural gas distribution systems.

This Alberta Official Statistic describes trends in Alberta's farm cash receipts, farm operating expenses, net cash income and realized net income, from 2001 to 2013. Farm cash receipts measure the gross revenue of farms from the sale of products (livestock and crops), and from direct program payments of producers. Farm operating expenses represent the costs incurred by producers in the production of products. Net cash income is the difference between cash receipts and operating expenses, while realized net income adjusts net cash income for depreciation.

Monthly notice of Crown Timber and Forest Resource Improvement Association of Alberta (FRIAA) dues for timber that is used to make lumber, pulp or roundwood timber products. Timber dues, Crown charges (stumpage fees) and other fees associated with timber dispositions are collected by the province to ensure that Albertans receive fair compensation for the use of publicly-owned forest resources. The timber dues rates applied are based on the current market prices of forest products. The tables used to determine the general rate of timber dues are adjusted periodically to reflect changes to current market conditions, and in the case of deciduous timber used to make pulp, indexed annually to account for inflation. The tables are located in Schedules 3-7 of the Timber Management Regulation.

Description

To address some of the data and information needs of the specialty crop industry in Alberta, the Statistics and Data Development (SADD) Branch conducts an annual Specialty Crop Survey. The survey captures data on area, yield and production for specialty crops grown in the province. Data gathered from the survey are used primarily to generate related provincial and sub-provincial estimates. In turn, these estimates are used to validate some of the Alberta estimates generated by Statistics Canada, as well as to provide industry and other stakeholders with benchmark statistics for some of the “new” and emerging crops.

Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development (ARD) commissioned this study to provide a broad picture of the market potential in various local food supply chains within the province. This exploratory study examines various aspects of local food supply chains in Alberta, as exemplified by saskatoons, potatoes and lamb. For each product we considered mainstream supply chains that sell to major retail outlets, intermediated supply chains that involve intermediaries such as buying clubs, bakeries, restaurants or other businesses that sell to consumers, and direct supply chains where the producer sells directly to the consumer.
