This training manual: contains information about the Alberta Approved Farmers' Market Program; discusses the minimum requirements of approved farmers' markets; describes the roles of the various stakeholders, including the market manager; and outlines the legislation and regulations which impact vendors selling at farmers' markets and the expectation for the market manager in enforcing compliance with legislation. The Scaling Standards of Alberta provides the standards of measurement used to determine the quantity and quality of timber harvested in Alberta. In addition, the standards provide information about compiling and reporting harvest data and describes non-standard scale methods used to estimate volumes of decked and stacked timber. These standards are authorized and posted under sections 2(1) and 2(2) of the Forests (Ministerial) Regulation, pursuant to Section 5(e) of the Forests Act.

This manual is intended to serve as a resource to inform and educate those who sell medications at authorized medicine sales outlets in applications, proper storage and handling. Authorized medicine sales deals with the selling of over-the-counter medicines for production animals by non-veterinarians. The manual provides clear information concerning the roles and responsibilities of licence holders and offers useful and practical grounding in authorized medicine training for all authorized medicine business owners and their staff. Chapters include: production animal medicine and the law; disease and its causes; drug information basics; drug formulations; drug administration routes; drugs licenced for sale at authorized medicine sales outlets; drug interactions and adverse reactions; and responsibilities of outlet owners and their employees. It also contains a reference guide for units of measure, as well as a copy of the current regulation.

An important factor in the overall success of a farmers' market is the skills and knowledge of the Market Manager. With the development of this training manual, Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development is committed to ensuring that approved farmers' market managers have the basic information they need in order to succeed in their roles. As stated in the Approved Farmers' Market Program Guidelines, market manager training is mandatory for all market managers within one year of becoming a manager of an approved farmers' market. This online resource will enable all managers to meet that requirement.
