Forest company forest management plans (FMPs) detail when, where and how timber on Alberta Crown land will be managed in order to balance social, economic, and environmental needs based on input from the public, Indigenous peoples and stakeholders. The forest management area covered in this plan is FMA 8800025, allocated to West Fraser Mills Ltd. (Hinton), through legislative Order-in-Council (O.C. 565/2007) dated January 14, 2008. The FMA area is located in west central Alberta; it falls within Upper Foothills, Lower Foothills, Sub-Alpine and Montane natural sub-regions. The HWP FMA area is located within the Upper Athabasca Land-Use Framework planning region.
