The overall aim of this paper is to stimulate and secure economic development in the use of the large available lignocellulose feedstock from Alberta's crops and trees. The paper is a statement of strategic opportunities rather than a scientific analysis of feedstock, biorefining choices or markets. Four strategic frameworks are presented for the future of Alberta's lignocellulose fibre-based industries.

In June 2006, the Alberta Council on Admissions and Transfer held a two-day forum entitled Alberta Recognizes Learning. The purpose of the forum was to engage in discussion with stakeholders to identify key issues surrounding the implementation of prior learning assessment and recognition in post-secondary education and skills training. This report presents a summary of the forum and the suggested actions which emerged.
