The Alberta Recreation Survey is a series of surveys that have been conducted approximately every four years since 1981. The survey collects information related to participation patterns of Albertans and the factors which influence their recreation activity choices. The following questions have consistently been included in each survey: participation by household members and respondents in an extensive array of social, creative, cultural, recreation, outdoor and sport activities; respondents' three favourite activities and reasons for participation in their first favourite activity; an activity respondents would like to start and the reasons for not starting the activity, involvement as a volunteer; opinions on recreation and parks activities and services and demographic information about the respondents and their households. Service regions are defined areas of the province that provide a framework for better understanding local factors relating to learning and programming at a regional level. In consultation with stakeholders, regional boundaries were drawn based on Dissemination Area (DA) boundaries and the area generally served by Comprehensive Community Institutions.

Description

These datasets track the percentage of students that completed any credential program within the completion timeline given the number of students in the completing cohort by institutions and credential-program type combination. The datasets thus employ a "backward tracking" algorithm to determining completion rates: cohorts are determined by the year the students are supposed to complete their programs, not by the year they start their programs. Separate datasets are provided at the institutional level and sector level for all students and for full-time students.

The annual results and participation rates for diploma examinations administered to students in Alberta schools. Diploma results and participation rates are aggregated into separate reports for the following levels: provincial, school authority, and school. Data elements are suppressed (represented as N/A) if fewer than six students are included in the calculation. The diploma exam results data includes the number of students writing, the percentage of students achieving the standard of excellence and the acceptable standard, the average percentage mark, and basic statistical attributes. These elements are included for both the school-awarded and the diploma exam marks for diploma courses in each of the past five school years. The diploma exam participation rates data includes the number of students in a cohort that is completing their third year of high school based on the school year they entered grade 10, the number of students in that cohort that participated in each of the...
