In rural Alberta, 90 per cent of people use private well water supplies for domestic use (e.g., drinking, cooking, bathing). Domestic well water systems are not regulated by the provincial or federal governments. The Government of Alberta along with Alberta Health Services (AHS) provides water chemistry testing of private well water and information and advice on safe water for domestic purposes; however, it is the responsibility of well owners to ensure the quality and safety of their water supply. Water quality may be impacted by contamination from natural sources or human activities and cause noticeable aesthetic issues or potential health concerns. Water samples are collected and submitted by well owners through local AHS sites for analysis of routine chemistry and trace element parameters. Under the Post-Secondary Learning Act, the boards of all public post-secondary institutions and independent academic institutions must enter into an investment management agreement with the Minister of Advanced Education. These agreements must include the mandate of the institution, performance metrics for the institution, and anything else determined by the Minister. The agreements are the primary accountability instrument of a performance-based funding model for Alberta's post-secondary system and incentivize institutions to work collectively to achieve the goals of Alberta 2030. This record contains all signed investment management agreements for the period 2022-2025.

This Alberta Official Statistic describes the physical condition of Alberta’s highways. The International Roughness Index (IRI) is used to measure the roughness of roads and is used as a sole measurement to categorize overall physical condition. The average IRI value is calculated over every 50 metre segment of the Alberta highway network. This detailed data is further averaged over one kilometre sections to provide an assessment of condition. This information is used to assess and sustain the quality of the paved highway network, in support of efficient movement of commuter, business, commercial, and pleasure traffic. The preservation of pavement quality through regular rehabilitation reduces the total life cycle cost of the highway system, improving return on investment for Albertans.

The dataset contains the results of analyses of surface water samples collected by AGS in the summer of 1999. Three lakes, three creeks, one stream and two rivers were sampled as part of a water sampling program carried out by AGS in the Athabasca Oil Sands in-situ area of Alberta. This area extends from approximately 55.34 degrees north latitude to 55.96 degrees north latitude, and 110.5 degrees west longitude to 111.8 degrees west longitude. The datum is NAD83. The dataset contains information on laboratory measured pH and conductivity, major, minor and trace element concentrations, as well as stable isotope ratio values of oxygen and hydrogen. AGS staff collected the samples using a discrete sampling method. The sample bottle was dipped into the surface water body and partially filled with water, rinsed and the water was discarded. The bottle was then filled and capped. The sample was subsequently filtered on site using a 0.45 micron filter. A sample was acidified for minor and...

This report is produced annually by the Research Capacity Planning branch of Alberta Advanced Education and Technology. Data derived from the report are compiled and used as a performance measure in Measuring Up, a component of the Government of Alberta's Annual Report, and the Business Plan and Annual Report for the Ministry of Advanced Education and Technology (AET). The data collection process has been adjusted in order to provide and analyze data that are consistent with the overall sponsored research revenue totals reported by the institutions to the Canadian Association of University Business Officers (CAUBO). These institutions include Athabasca University, and the Universities of Alberta, Calgary and Lethbridge. Previous reports described a ten year span of historical data, but given requirements associated with restating the data in accordance with the new process, this report details a five year span of data.

Corneal thinning disorders are rare progressive disorders that can either be caused by a primary disease process (keratoconus) or may be secondary to another process; such as post laser-in-situ-keratomileusis (LASIK) induced keratectasia (KE). It has been estimated that the most common corneal thinning disorder, keratoconus (KC), affects 1 in every 2000 people globally. Corneal crosslinking using riboflavin and ultraviolet-A radiation (CXL) is an emerging technology which may be used for managing corneal thinning disorders. The purpose of this review is to determine the safety, clinical efficacy, social impact and economic value of CXL for the management of corneal thinning disorders.
