Description

The Civil Society Fund provides $20 million over 3 years to expand civil society's capacity to address social problems facing Albertans. Civil society includes non-profit and voluntary organizations, registered charities, informal groups or movements pursuing shared interests or values, and private-sector organizations and individuals pursuing social good. The first round of funding was launched in fall 2020. These guidelines will help organizations develop a grant application.

The Premier’s Council on Charities and Civil Society, comprised of individuals representing diverse regions and perspectives, provides independent advice to government on its relationship with civil society addressing pressing social issues. The Council is accountable to the Premier, through the Minister of Community and Social Services. The Council develops its strategic plan on a three-year cycle.
